Mu Xin 木心 ( 1927-2011 ) was born on February 14, in a wealthy

family in Wuhen, Zhejiang Province China.
|

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts - Shanghai University,

|
1948
|
He joined the Hangzhou National Academy of Art. |
|
|
Graduated, he taught Art at Hangzhou High School.. |
|
|
|
|
1950-1960
|
He worked in Shanghai Arts and Crafts Institute, as a handicrafts |
| |
Designer. |
|
|
During the Cultural Revolution, he was arrested, imprisoned,
|
| |
mistreated. All his works were destroyed, then he was placed
|
| |
under house arrest.
|
|
1979
|
Réhabilitated, he served as Secretary General of the China Arts |
| |
and Crafts Association. |
| |
|
|
1982
|
He moved to New York United States. |
|
1989-1994
|
He taught world Literature to a group of artists. |
| |
|
|
2003
|
He donated 30 paintings to Yale University.
|
| |
|
|
2006
|
He moved to settle permanently in Wuzhen.
|

|
2011
|
He passed away on December 21 , at the age of 84 .
|
|
|
His hometown Wuzhen began building a Museum |

in his honor. |
