1927

Mu Xin  木心 ( 1927-2011 ) was born on February 14, in a wealthy

 

family in  Wuhen, Zhejiang Province  China.

   

1946

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts - Shanghai University,

1948

He joined the Hangzhou National Academy of Art.

 

Graduated, he taught Art at Hangzhou High School..

 

 

1950-1960

He worked in Shanghai Arts and Crafts Institute, as a handicrafts
  Designer.

      

During the Cultural Revolution, he was arrested, imprisoned,

 

mistreated.  All his works were destroyed, then he was placed

 

under house arrest.

1979

Réhabilitated, he served as Secretary General of the China Arts
  and Crafts Association.
   

1982

He moved to New York  United States.

1989-1994

He taught world Literature to a group of artists.
   

2003

He donated 30 paintings to Yale University.

   

2006

He moved to settle permanently in Wuzhen.

   

2011

He passed away on December 21 , at the age of 84 .

 

His hometown Wuzhen began building a Museum
  in his honor.

2015
